Can i use string as a zippo wick?

Ok, bought a zippo today from a local shop, you can buy flints, zippos and fuel there.

Only problem is they don't sell wicks.

Now, i'm not able to purchase online, so i need to find something else to use as a wick.

Would string work?

Maybe a wick from a candle?|||Have a look at

|||You shouldn't need to replace the wick, I've had my zippo for 15yrs, used it at least 20 times a day and have never needed to touch the wick.

I know some peoples have burned down a bit, but the wick is very long and coiled up in the gauze inside, just pull a little bit through if burns too low.|||The wick in a petrol lighter has a thin wire hrough it to enable you to thread it through. You couldn't do that with string.

another point is the wick has to be a tight fit to prevent the petrol seeping past the wick|||Logistics make them to burn at a certain rate so you don't set light to your own head ! Not available to the general public. Luckily for you!|||string will work but won't last long. try a shoelace
