How long does a zippo last without refueling?

Well, I just got this new zippo from my friend, because his dad sells them but they gave me one for my birthday present. And I am wondering, it's been at least a week and the fuel has already died... I'm a bit disappointed. But is that like the orginal life-span before the zippo has to be refueled? Or did they give me a used zippo !!!?|||mine lasts about a week, and i use it constantly
